I couldnt let "JerryinaPuch";s xcomments go unheeded -

Do you REALLy think most opre-coma shows sucked? If so you were either a) not on tour, or b) highly inexperienced regarding the Dead, or c) on dope.

The shows I saw pre-Coma BLOW AWAY the shows I saw after summer '86. First of all take away post-90, once Brent was gone they never found it again. The late '80's shows were ncie and clean sometimes, tight band, but zero chances, zero jams. even the one tour fall '89 - those "jams" were so short. A Playin from '81 or '83 or even '84 blows that away. The Dead also had a much more powerful sound pre-coma, plus they were flat-out younger. The original Modulus 6-string bass Phil played from '83-'86 and Brent on teh Hammond B-3 was some serious power. They lost that during the "Touch head" era.

I was at these shows, no great shakes. band was fine, spectacular venue, Greeks '85 made these shows look like Duran Duran. Wwell maybe now I'm over exagerrating.. Actually all of '85 does. The Spectrum Big Boss had so much more energy and spunk, the band was almosttame in the late - '80's. I like em rough and raunchy, mot midi'd.

Good show. Nice matrix remaster by Charlie. I know these reviews are subjective but don't listen to negative people who hand out two stars.

This show was GREAT! Listen again. C. Miller wouldn't have focused on THIS show if it totally sucked. You don't see a Miller recording of that shitty show in 84' (can't remember the name)

Or MOST of the pre-coma shows, do you?

Start at West LA Fadeaway and go from there!

this show sucked from start to finish.

Great weekend! but Sunday the Band was tired and so was the crowd.

The Harmonic Convergence was a great experience at Sunrise.

Musically the whole week was lacking except for a few moments here and there. I would say it was one of those moments the Boys failed to grasp once again.

But thanks to Bobo for bringing the Boys to the Box Canyon.
